Train Service

Bremen’s main railway station is located in the centre of the city and has multiple links to the surrounding cities and area.

At the station forecourt you will find connections to the BSAG bus and tram network as well as the BSAG customer centre.

You can travel to the city centre from the railway station, which is a 15-20 minute walk, or alternatively take one of the many bus or tram routes.

The train from Hamburg to Bremen is direct and takes between 1 hour and 90 minutes. There are RE (regional express) and ICE (high speed inter-city express) trains that run between to two cities. The cost of tickets is between €10 (£9) and €40 (£35).

There is also a Flixbus service between the cities the runs regularly.

Ferry Service

There are a few recommended ferry routes from the UK to Germany

For convenience there is a day or overnight ferry crossing between Harwich to Hook of Holland.

The crossing takes about 8 hours, and if taking the night ferry you can hire a cabin for a restful sleep, and then there is a 4 to 5 hour drive to Bremen.

This can cost around £150 for 2 adults crossing in a standard sized car.

One of the cheaper crossings is between Newhaven and Dieppe, which takes around 4 to 5 hours but afterwards  there is a 10 hour drive to Bremen.

This costs around £75 for 2 adults crossing in a standard sized car.

Other crossings are available from Dover to Calais by ferry, or via Le Shuttle.

Airport

Bremen Airport Hans Koschnick is located about 3.5 kilometres from the centre of Bremen
There is a tram line (Tram Number 6) which connects to the city centre, central station and University.
The tram departs every 10 minutes and the stop is located right in front of the entrance/exit of the terminal (outside the check in desk)
